Fellowship Administration

Viking Boat Sculpture

Luke Fuendling

Public Relations

Luke has been with the Fellowship from the beginning. Inspired by a high school English teacher to pursue writing, he began seeking fellow writers while studying history at the University of Guelph. This search helped lead to the creation of the Fellowship.

Luke has published a number of articles through The Ontarion, has worked with professional editors, and is waiting on queries he's submitted to publishers and agents about his graphic novel. He's also working on four short story publications with Marlena Books, so it's safe to say that he's well on his way of accomplishing his dream of becoming a full-time author.

Luke has experimented with many types of writing, but he really loves writing epic fantasy and adventure stories.

His favourite thing to work on:

Mid-grade adventure stories

His greatest struggle:

Letting editing interfere with first-draft juices

Others turn to Luke for:

Enthusiasm and out of the box thinking

Karla Kale

Creator & Administrator

Karla has been writing as long as she can remember. She has also organized the Fellowship since its inception. While eagerly attending workshops, classes and conferences about writing, she's observed that people learn best when they're learning together. Therefore, the Fellowship is intended to be a place where writers help and teach each other in a supportive way.

Karla has also arranged a partnership between the Fellowship and Marlena Books Inc. This publishing opportunity has encouraged Fellowship members to write short stories for adults with dementia in support of their love of reading.

She has published four stories with Marlena Books Inc. with more to come.

Karla will try her hand at almost anything, but really loves writing dystopian and apocalyptic teen fiction.

Her favourite thing to work on:

Character Development

Her greatest struggle:

Finishing a plot

Others turn to Karla for:

Asking the right questions to inspire in-depth characters

Being our "Fearless Leader"

Meditation by the sea

Lindsay Kroes

Lindsay has been with the Fellowship since the beginning and was the first of the Fellowship to publish. Through an entrepreneurial project at the University of Waterloo, she self-published "Gather by the Avon: The Stratford Story Project" in 2013.

With one book under her belt, she's turned her attention back to the poetry and contemporary fiction that she loves.

Cup of Tea

Claire Meagher

Claire has studied writing and literature throughout her university career. While school frequently tears her away from her creative pursuits, she still loves writing poetry, and has plans for a historic novel based on family stories. She hopes to start on the idea as soon as school stops ruling her life.

London Abstract

John Lam

John came to the Fellowship with passion and an idea. Already business savvy, having started his first business while still in his undergrad, he is now using his unique and creative voice to develop a book reflecting the process of venturing into entrepreneurial enterprises and turning innovative ideas into reality.

Pile Of Books

Brooke Giles

Brooke has always been passionate about literature. An avid reader as well as writer, she's spent the last few years working for the Eden Mills Festival. She's also had success with creative writing contests and has won awards for her work. She loves writing poetry and short stories.

Group Coloring

Kerrie Smith

Kerrie has far too many hobbies and not enough time, but when the spirit moves her, she goes back to her writing. She is currently working on projects for Marlena Books, but hopes to get back into her own projects when life settles down... if it ever does.

Woman in Art Gallery

Katie Anderson

Currently living outside K/W, Katie doesn't get the opportunity to come to the meetings as often as she'd like, but maintains a strong interest in writing. Much of her writing so far has been academic, as she's currently completing her second masters degree. She loves historical fiction and non-fiction, and is particularly inspired by her strong interest in local oral histories.

Book Shelf

Elisabeth Boekhoven

Elisabeth has run off to Ottawa so rarely manages to make it to meetings. However, she stays in touch with the Fellowships and continues to "dabble" with creative writing. Also an avid reader, she loves epic fantasy, sci-fi, horror and just about anything she can gets her hands on. Therefore, her inspiration and her writing are often equally eclectic.

Penguin in Snow

Robin Grace

Robin is new to writing, and currently very secretive about her projects, but enjoys coming out to meetings when she can for an encouraging space.  She is currently--as far as we know!--particularly interested in memoirs and journalling.

Hockey Puck & Stick

Davis Cowen

Davis is new to writing, but has joined the Fellowship with an ambitious project in mind. He's embarked on a memoir  to offer those struggling with the loss of a loved one a different perspective. Though a serious topic, he infuses his writing with his own unique brand of humour and will hopefully be convinced to continue with writing once he completes his current project.

Dramatic Sunset over the Mountains

Elyse Heubner

Elyse has been journalling as long as she can remember, reflecting on the ups and downs of life. Now she's joined the Fellowship so that she can expand her writing to start exploring her love of poetry.
